Gatwick Airport Northern Runway
In 2021, Gatwick Airport published their proposals for the Northern Runway project and underwent a process of community engagement and consultation on those proposals. Our team was commissioned as part of the consultation team to provide graphic design, typesetting, and video editing services.
Over the course of the consultations in 2021 and 2022, we collaborated closely with the team, working to budget and within tight timescales. Our deliverables included the design of a timeline of engagement, typesetting of a summary document, design of public exhibition event boards, design and layout of newsletters, design and layout of questionnaires, design of press adverts and social media assets, design and typesetting of a Statement of Community Involvement, and design of a series of project maps.
Our main responsibility was to collaborate with the Communications team in order to make the technical information more accessible to the public. This involved simplifying complex maps and ensuring that the content was clear, considering the abundance of information available. Our objective was to engage and consult with the local community and politicians at both local and national levels regarding the Airport’s plans for the Northern Runway.
In all our work, accessibility was prioritised. We closely worked with the Communications team to ensure that the technical information was presented in an easily understandable way. Our graphic design and typesetting work played a crucial role in this process, allowing us to present the information in a clear and visually appealing manner.
Overall, our collaboration with the Gatwick Airport team helped to ensure that the Northern Runway project was communicated effectively to the public. Our focus on graphic design, typesetting, and communication services helped to make the technical information more accessible to a wider audience. Through our collaboration, we were able to engage and consult with the local community and politicians at both local and national levels, achieving Gatwick Airport’s objective of effectively communicating their plans for the Northern Runway project.
